When it opened in August 1846, Philips Park was one of the world's first municipal parks designed to allow the public free access to green spaces and was intended to encourage "a mixing of the classes." It was named after the local MP, Mark Philips, who campaigned to get parks for the ordinary working people of Manchester. It was awarded registered status on the National Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England as a Grade II listed site in 2001.

A little more compact in size than the standard bus blinds at 71cm wide, this 60s original is printed on an early tyvek type material, giving an incredibly crisp finish with a slight gloss shine to the white lettering. It is in excellent condition for its age.
