Studio 55 Letterpress

Cotswolds based Paul set up Studio 55 Letterpress during the first lockdown (remember those?) in 2020 with his renovated treadle powered press Mary - an Arab Crown Folio 10 x 15 press built in 1915. His work is inspired by the effect of the transparent inks used in letterpress printing, overlaying them to create unique, vibrant colours.

Everything is produced by hand (and feet on the treadle of course), fed into the press one card at a time. Paul says, "the look and feel of letterpress is unmistakable – when combined with the right paper, the inked surface becomes slightly debossed adding another dimension."
